NEW FORMS OF CREATIVE KNOWLEDGE

geniaLAB’s Annual Forum

23–24 October 2026 · AANT, Via Monza 21, Rome

geniaLAB’s first annual Forum examines transformations in knowledge, creative processes and education in the context of artificial intelligence. Organised by AANT’s research HUB, the event brings together Scientific Committee members, scholars, professionals and representatives of higher arts education institutions for an interdisciplinary dialogue connecting research, experimentation and design practice.
The Forum focuses on the desire to create: its relationship with generative tools, the conditions that support its development, and the role of education in encouraging independent creative practice, critical thinking and awareness of creative processes.
The programme on 23 October centres on the question “How can we nurture the desire to create in the age of AI?” A presentation of geniaLAB’s first year of activities introduces a series of talks and discussions bringing cultural, philosophical, artistic and scientific perspectives into dialogue.
The connection between reflection and experimentation is also explored through “AI&ME: The Fine Line Between Creativity and Generativity”, a workshop led by Alex Braga with AANT students. Its outcomes are presented at the end of the day.
On 24 October, the focus turns to the question “How can we inspire and develop the desire to create in the age of AI?” The from AANT, IED and NABA, together with a talk by Giovanna Cassese, a member of ANVUR’s Governing Board, open a discussion on the role of academies in education and artistic and design research, including research evaluation criteria.
The dialogue involves members of AANT’s and geniaLAB’s Scientific Committee and interested faculty members, building on themes emerging from the first day. Its aim is to develop a common approach to shared challenges and lay the foundations for a lasting exchange betweeninstitutions, strengthening the relationship between knowledge production, educational responsibility and creative innovation.
