On 24 March 2026, Open AANT hosted the presentation of Design Espanso, the third volume in the Lezioni di Design series promoted by Selfhabitat Cultura. The event was coordinated by Professor Giovanna Talocci, Head of Interior and Product Design, and featured authors Patrizia Scarzella and Dora Liscia Bemporad.
The meeting offered a reflection on design in its most contemporary dimension, moving beyond the idea of design as the mere creation of objects. At the centre of the discussion was a vision of design as a system of relationships that crosses culture, society, images, and ways of living. The volume was conceived as a tribute to Vanni Pasca, a key figure in Italian design culture, and presents design as an open, critical, and interdisciplinary field.
During the event, Scarzella and Bemporad led a discussion on the transformations of the present and on the role of the designer as an interpreter of complex scenarios. Giovanna Talocci’s presence strengthened the connection between theoretical debate and the educational path of AANT’s design programmes. For undergraduate students, the event became a concrete opportunity to rethink design as a cultural, critical, and relational practice. The result was an encounter that expanded the meaning of design and reaffirmed its active role in understanding the present.
