The Chair of geniaLAB’s Scientific Committee brings AANT’s “Defence Against the Dark Arts: Thinking through AI” course to an international audience.
AANT featured on stage at TEDAI Vienna 2026, the TED conference dedicated to artificial intelligence, held at the Hofburg from 28 to 30 October. Speakers included Andrea Colamedici, philosopher, co-founder of Tlon and Chair of the Scientific Committee of geniaLAB, AANT’s transdisciplinary research hub.
Speaking in the “Escaping Hypnocracy” session, Colamedici explored the philosophical and publishing experiment behind Hypnocracy and addressed cognitive sovereignty. His talk raised a question with direct implications for education: artificial intelligence increasingly shapes the conditions in which we think, influencing our attention, the questions we ask and the possibilities we can imagine.
Among the educational experiences presented during his talk was “Defence Against the Dark Arts: Thinking through AI”, featured on a slide displaying the AANT logo alongside Prompt Thinking, published by Polity Press.
The course, previously featured on AANT’s website, grew out of Jianwei Xun, a project conceived by Colamedici that brings together human and artificial intelligences. Through seven sessions between March and May 2026, twenty students from across AANT’s undergraduate programmes explored AI’s effects on thinking, independent judgement and creative practice.
AANT’s educational experience thus joins an international discussion around a question central to geniaLAB’s work: how can education help people experiment with technology, understand its implications and maintain autonomy and responsibility throughout the creative process?
